Achieving the best design for your kitchen depends on some factors, choosing the most fitting layout is one of the most important factors that you need to consider first. Choosing the layout will make the other designing steps much easier starting from choosing the kitchen cabinets to choosing the appliances. It won’t only make it easier, but it will help you to make the right choices as well.
Choosing the most fitting layout depends on some factors like your kitchen’s space, shape and your personal needs. Before we talk about the different types of the layouts that you can apply to your kitchen, let me tell you about the kitchen triangle. The kitchen triangle is means the area in which you place the main three elements, the stove, refrigerator and the sink. The main purpose of any layout design is helping you to get the best use of this area. Now, it’s time to talk about the different types that can achieve that.
The first layout we will talk about is called the L shaped layout; this layout is the most common layout that most people prefer to apply to their kitchens. This layout is the most flexible one as well that can fit both large and small kitchens, the kitchen items are arranged in a way that gives you enough space to move freely and guess what? You can even have the family kitchen chat while you are cooking without any traffic problems.
You can arrange your kitchen triangle in any way you like, just make sure to put only one element of the kitchen triangle in the small part and put the other two items in the taller one to maximize your working space. Just pay attention not to place the stove close to the refrigerator; otherwise, you can apply any arranging you like.
It’s time to talk about another alphabet, sorry, I mean another layout and it’s called the U shaped kitchen layout. The U shaped kitchen layout has three sided floor plans and it’s the perfect layout to choose if you have a large kitchen. This layout is also the best to go for if you love cooking like chefs or if you need to provide your kitchen with many countertops or working spaces.
This layout is so comfortable in a way that makes you able to invite your friend to cook with you without facing any trouble in moving comfortably and easily. The most important tip that you need to consider is to leave enough space between the kitchen appliances to get the best use of the countertop spaces.
There is another layout called the G shaped layout, this layout is almost like the above layout (U shaped), but it has one difference. This difference is an additional piece called the peninsula, except that, these layouts are same in every thing, the amount of the countertop spaces, the storage areas, etc.
If you are looking for a practical and space-saving layout in the same time, then you must be looking for the one wall kitchen layout. This layout is done by placing all your kitchen items including the cabinets, the sink and the appliances on one wall. This layout is the most space- saving one, but you can only apply it if you have a wall that is 8 feet or over in your kitchen.
If you apply this layout to a very small, you may face storage or working space problem, but that is okay, you can always use the help of any of the smart solutions like small islands as a countertop, pull out shelves and wall pantry for storing your kitchen stuff.
Island layout; the island layout is designed in a way that makes most of the working area in the center of the kitchen and the rest of the kitchen pieces around it. You can make your kitchen island your major working place by adding a sink, a cook top or both, if you decided to put the sink in your kitchen island, then you can place your dishwasher in it as well. The kitchen island can work as a main countertop and it can be used as a kitchen table by adding couple of stools.
Kitchen islands come in variety of sizes, shapes and designs that can fit any kitchen, so choosing the suitable one, won’t be that tricky for you. The rest of the kitchen layout will include the stove or the sink, cabinets and the refrigerator, you can arrange these pieces in any arranging you like or fit your kitchen space. Just make sure to place the refrigerator, sink and the stove closer to each other to provide enough flexibility and comfort in your kitchen, just remember to avoid placing the refrigerator close to the stove.
The last two layouts that we will be talking about are the corridor and the gallery kitchen layouts. In these two layouts, the working places will face each other in a parallel shape, they could be best used in tall and narrow kitchens that have one or both open ends. So, what is the difference between the two layouts? The only difference is that the corridor can be applied in a kitchen with two open ends and the gallery can be applied in the kitchens that have one open end, but in both your kitchen will be arranged in the same parallel shape.
These were the most common used layouts that most people prefer to apply to their kitchens and like I said before the choice is up to you and your kitchen space. I hope you make the perfect choice that gives you the enough comfort, flexibility and easiness that you need.
